Dominican Republic with stainless record in two matches 

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, June 4, 2007.- The Dominican Republic lost the first set against Panama but recovered well to get its second win in as many outings in Pool B of the Second Men’s Pan American Cup.

The host Dominicans triumphed by scores of 25-27, 25-20, 25-22, 25-15, and tomorrow will meet Cuba to define the winner of the pool who automatically advance to the semi final phase.

Elvis Contreras, Jose Caceres and Juan Pozo had 17, 14 and 12 points respectively for Dominican Republic . Carlos Zuniga (14), Domingo Avila (13) and Gabriel Calderon (11) were the best for Panama .

“We had problems to get the teamwork in the first set but improved later in the match,” said Juan Carlos Perdomo, the coach of Dominican Republic . “Tomorrow we play against Cuba in a very important match and hopefully we will see some improvement from today.”
